Dr. Ryan Gladwin

Director

Education: B.A. in Christian ministries and Spanish, Messiah College; M.Div., Duke University Divinity School; Ph.D., University of Edinburgh in Scotland. 

Dr. Gladwin, a second-generation native of Palm Beach County, FL, has a diverse background that includes living and working in pastoral ministry and community development across various urban settings throughout the Americas (including Santa Marta and Bogotá, Colombia; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Londrina, Brazil; Raleigh, NC; Philadelphia, PA; West Palm Beach, FL) and the United Kingdom (specifically Edinburgh, Scotland). 

Prior to joining PBA in 2014, he served as the program director of Messiah University's Philadelphia campus and held a position as an assistant professor of theology and ethics. Before becoming the Director of the Community Transformation Center, he was the founding Director of  PBA’s first academic program in Spanish and coordinator of the Christian Community Development program. His teaching portfolio encompasses a range of courses in theology, ethics, and intercultural studies. Dr. Gladwin is deeply committed to inspiring students and local churches to engage in efforts for social transformation, peace, and justice. 

His research interests span social ethics, Latin American and Latinx religion and theology, practical theology, Pentecostalism, Anabaptism, and ecclesiology. Notably, he is the author of "Streams of Latin American Protestant Theology" (Brill) and has a forthcoming book titled "Towards a Liberating Latin American Ecclesiology: The Local Church as a Transformative Historical Project.” Additionally, he has contributed chapters to various books and is actively involved in multiple ongoing book projects. 

Dr. Gladwin is married to Natalia, an Argentine native, and they have two children. He is an enthusiastic supporter of Argentine soccer and all Miami sports teams and enjoys running and leisurely strolls along the beach with his wife and children.
